
I worked for one year and was able to pay $20,000 towards my student loans. In 2018, I restored my cosmetologist license and worked at two local haircutting salons to pay my student loans. I worked at Fiesta and SuperCuts while attending college. Fortunately, I attended Wilberforce University, the same university from which both of my parents had graduated. I was impressed, and I was on a mission to pay for college while working as a cosmetologist. My cousin had graduated from Tennessee State University, and during a college visit, I saw that the university had a salon on campus. I was accepted into several colleges and universities. I felt that I could do anything, and I did. I jumped for joy when I received my acceptance letter. Lovin stating it was very competitive to get accepted into the program. I was surprised when I was accepted into the cosmetology program because I remembered Ms. MVCTC gave me the confidence to apply for my dream. I combined doing hair with my passion for teaching and writing. When I was a young girl, I loved doing hair. MVCTC allowed me to pursue my dream of being a cosmetologist while earning my teaching degree.
